For the times when the weather is too inclimate to use a Total Station, and there is no way to mark it for a later time to shoot it, use the data collector as a data table. Sokkia's will let you use the keyboard input. Put in the number and point names that are in your library. Then run the download. There's your dxf file, waiting to be "purdy-ed" up. It beats having to enter the points in the CAD program, and you can still get a real nice printout to put with your case.
Just a thought.

Here is a simple cheap plan for making your own sand bags for securing your equipment on windy days. This plan makes 5 lb bags.
STEP 1 Get some airbag material from vehicles where the airbag has been deployed. (It's free)
STEP 2 Buy the 5 lb bags of aquarium gravel, usually under $ 4.00 USC.
STEP 3 Cut the airbag material slightly bigger than the plastic bag of gravel and sew around three edges.
STEP 4 Place the entire unopenned plastic bag of gravel into the airbag pocket and secure the forth side.
You can also get the 40 lb bag of sand and make larger sandbags for the heavier stuff.
